With the beginning of our assumption of the duties of heading the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University College of Ashur, and with the start of our first steps with this responsibility, I must offer my great gratitude to those who placed their trust in us represented by the Deanship of the College. Our dear college. Sport has become one of the most important means of achieving social development in modern societies. It is one of the most important means of spreading the spirit of belonging to the homeland, instilling national values ​​in the individual, and a sense of cohesion among members of society. Evidence of this is the manifestations of intense enthusiasm that can be easily spotted during sports matches, in which teams of different countries compete. Sports and organized physical activity have also become taken for granted to promote and maintain health, as there has been much talk about physical fitness, and interest in it has increased dramatically day by day, and the slogan of the twenty-first century has become “fitness for health” or “health related fitness” an addition Because it is associated with skill is one of the common matters among people, and sports practice is no longer limited to those who have superior physical and athletic talents, but rather has become an urgent need for all members of society of all groups and ages. Indeed, sports are considered one of the most important channels that invest the best in the human being in terms of physical, psychological and spiritual potentials. This department at Ashur University College is one of the main modern academic departments in it, which was established in the year (2022 AD) and consists of teaching staff with doctorate and master’s degrees, and infrastructure with (a football field and common athletics, an indoor legal swimming pool, and a bowling hall International comprising 16 tracks, in addition to 7 indoor halls for various approved and Olympic games "tennis court - badminton court - handball court - basketball court - volleyball court - five-a-side football - and a hall for artistic and rhythmic gymnastics and other playgrounds" in addition to more than 16 halls For theoretical studies in addition to lodgings for students). The department is equipped with all advanced tools and devices and modern technology to teach students in practical and theoretical lessons, and the department is continuing to develop the infrastructure to prepare to receive students. The department and its teaching staff are working on developing the scientific foundations and keeping pace with the scientific and technological progress taking place in the world and in the field of physical education and sports sciences from both the practical and theoretical sides. The department awards a bachelor’s degree in the field of physical education after the student has completed four years of study, and the certificate is equivalent to that of the University of Baghdad. Scientific foundations with good levels to advance the educational process to the highest level as well as the training process of the relevant institutions. The department includes a specialized cadre of distinguished faculty members who seek to establish relationships and partnerships with many universities and other local, Arab and even foreign sports institutions to exchange experiences in the field Research, scientific and mathematical. I extend my thanks and gratitude to everyone who belongs to this department, this family, and everyone who sincerely works in order to raise the status of this scientific edifice, which will remain a source of inspiration for society. And contribute to the advancement of the health level of society as a whole, which contributes to the advancement and development of our beloved country, Iraq.
