The President of Ashur University, Prof. Dr. Kadhim Al-Majidi, met today, Tuesday 10/22/2024, with the Japanese academic delegation consisting of Professor Dr. Keiko Sakai, Dean of the Institute for International Crisis Relations at Chiba University, and Professor Dr. Kaoru Yamamoto, a lecturer at Keio University in Japan, accompanied by the head of the cultural department at the Japanese Embassy. In his meeting, the President of the University discussed opportunities for scientific, academic and cultural cooperation between Ashur University and the Japanese Universities of Chiba and Keio, in addition to cultural cooperation with the Japanese Embassy in Baghdad. The guests from the Japanese delegation were introduced during the meeting to the university, its departments and capabilities. During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Kadhim Al-Majidi, President of Ashur University, expressed the university's readiness to open up to Japanese universities and academic institutions in the fields of research, students and staff exchange, holding workshops and seminars, and establishing research projects that meet the needs of the labor market in all specializations. The Director of the Scholarships and Cultural Relations Division of Ashur University gave an introductory presentation about Ashur University, its vision, goals, mission, and its keenness to develop opportunities for scientific cooperation and conclude agreements with distinguished international institutions and universities. The university was also introduced through a video that showed the Japanese delegation the university's facilities, colleges, sports center, hospital, and medical centers. The Japanese delegation was also taken on an introductory tour to the dental clinics, the College of Medicine facilities, and then the swimming pool, the bowling hall, and the university's sports stadium, where a football game was held for girls' cubs, as one of the activities through which Ashur University seeks to serve the local community. After this introduction to the university and the tour in which the President of the University accompanied the Japanese delegation, the head of the Japanese delegation, Professor Keiko Sakai, expressed her great admiration for the university, its buildings , and its capabilities, considering it to represent a distinguished image of Iraq private universities and its keenness to provide various distinguished educational services to its students, and that she did not expect the existence of institutions at the level that Ashur University was found at. The head of the delegation added that she will work seriously after her return to Tokyo to urge Japanese universities to cooperate with Ashur University, which has many advantages that contribute to achieving scientific and academic cooperation for students and faculty members. The representative of the Japanese Embassy also expressed his admiration for the university’s distinction and its capabilities and expressed his desire to strive to urge Japanese universities to cooperate and communicate with the university, represented by its president, Professor Dr. Kadhim Al-Majidi. The delegation also expressed thanks and appreciation for the warm reception from Ashur University, wishing it all success in its achievements that flourish and prosper day after day in a distinguished effort by the university presidency to raise the university’s scientific and educational rankings and through its openness and keenness on scientific and academic cooperation locally and globally.
